The National Hurricane Center is calling for major storms this year, some of which have already begun to show their faces. It is important to prepare for and prevent damage to your property- including your home. Make sure you and your family have a plan of action, and that everyone knows it.
Hurricane season runs from about June 1st until November 30th. During that time, the storms peak in the Northeast Region of the United States around August and September. The additional heavy rains can speed up and exacerbate any problems you may already have looming in your foundation, basement or crawl space.
Having a bag on hand with emergency items is a first step. But what about the rest of your valuables? Your car can go in a garage and flashlights can work until the power comes back on; but what about your home itself? Or your keepsakes in the basement? Are they safe?
Water damage can be one of the most devastating things to happen to a home. Water can deteriorate your home’s foundation, crawl space and/or basement walls causing damage. The longer you wait to fix it, the worse the problem gets. With the heavy rains of hurricane season the damage may not only quicken, but begin to show itself. When it begins to show itself, the water may destroy items that you thought were safely tucked away- or cause you an even bigger headache. Want to try to vacuum or pump water up from your basement without electricity? No thank you.
By sealing and existing cracks in your foundation, waterproofing your basement or encapsulating your crawl space, we have the best solution for your home. Prepare that plan of action during this hurricane season and add ‘Call Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing for my FREE home inspection’ to the list. Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing can put your mind at ease.
